At least you guys have a legitimate excuse.

This is what I’ve done when I’m not close to the Lord or in a funk….

First of all, I’m married (newlywed), no children, and not working. I have no schedule whatsoever. My hubby is rarely home because he’s a truck driver so I can pretty much do what I want, when I want. I’ll tell you how evil I’ve been….I actually INVENT things to do - anything as long as I DON’T have to spend time with the Lord. I don’t know why I do this because I love spending time with Him in prayer and study. But I go through these periods where I’d rather do other things to fill up my day and they’re all useless.

Then…when I do get back in the game, sometimes it’s hard to keep my brain quiet so I pray for a quieted spirit, that He help me focus my attentions on Him only. I do other things to make sure I’m not distracted like turning off my phone, I make sure I eat something so I’m not starving and thinking about food, feed kitty etc. The Lord always helps me.

Thanks Joanne. I always respond with ‘ah but, if you want something done, ask a busy person….’ Well that seems to be the way people think isn’t it?

I was at a Christian business breakfast this morning and the speaker quoted (paraphrased) from Proverbs 4:25 about “don’t look left, don’t look right, but look right ahead” and he was saying how easy it is for us to lose focus because there are so many things we could be doing.

Great blog… awesome insight. I had someone come to me recently and say, ” I know you are so busy… but…” I could not hear anything else they said I was caught on how they viewed me - So Busy!! God gave me an attitude adjustment right there and I now no longer have a busy life - but a BIG life that I am living in a Big, Rich, Full way and I am loving it!

Same here..i find that i keep on piling projects to myself to make myself more busy and make more money but i realize the efforts i ma putting i do not measure up to the level of success i want to achieve.
